Japanese, born 1951
Kunio's paintings are characterized by the use of saturated colors that come directly from natural pigments that he collects in México or that he brings from Japan and impregnates on amate paper, with which he manages to evoke features of nature from the abstraction of their forms.
His works produce long-term perception of movement, a “mineral” dynamism that is active beneath the apparently stable surface.
In his own words, he wants to express the voice of silence through his eyes. When he closes his eyes he can smell the Mexican land.
He has presented more than 30 individual exhibitions in México and Japan, and has participated in group shows in United States, Japan and Mexico.
